GSXRaptor Swingarm Issues
Whats up fellas, I've got an 03 GSXR 600 motor sitting in a raptor frame right now and a little birdie told me that 100+ horsepower and my 135 lbs will not keep the front end of this thing down in any gear except revers, too bad they dont have reverse. I have been browsing the forums trying to find links to all of these swingarm companies that everyone has been referring, but no luck. The front sprocket sits 1.75 inches fruther forward than the stock raptor and I was thinking that a +6 would be long enough, but still whellie-able. Let me know which swingarms you guys have had luck with and which you havent.
Also Alba was saying that 120 links is only good up to +4 on the swingarm, this would then leave me s.o.l. Is that the case or are they full of it? Stock raptor is close to 92 links. Give me some insight.
Here are some pics to get you excited =)
These pics are a little old, I have the pegs mounted, indivual K&N s on the intakes and the exhaust is all mounted (no pink wire) I am making a gas tank right now. There is also a carbon fiber box that I made to go under the seat to hold the computer and the power commander. I'll get some more pics up soon.

well..your prob is not going to be keeping the front end down...Its going to be getting the power to the ground...Your going to have a spinning issue with it...I would go with the +6 or maybe +8...the way i look at it..is if you need that much swinger to keep it down..Like a +10 or bigger...you really need to step back and learn to ride it..to were you can keep it down with a +6..If you go big on the swingarm..Your going to get bet by other quads in a drag..couse there hookin and your not...

Ive got the gearing covered, I created an excel sheet that calculates theoretical speed based on internal gear ratios, max rpm, tire size, sprocket sizes, and some other techinical info. So I am dropping the front sprocket down from a 16 to an 11 and depending on what that does for me, 1st theoretically should do 36 mph compared to 60 mph.
Work wise has not been too bad. The frame rails didnt take too long to bend up, but the exhaust and the carbon fiber have been the most time consuming.
Still wondering which longer swingarm I should be looking for. Thanks for the insight guys.
DriverDoyle, I know what you mean with the power to the ground, I read an article on a turbo-nitrous-hayabusa raptor that was running close to 500 hp. They said they had to back it down to 350 or so to hook up and believe it or not go faster in the sand. I've seen other street bike conversions and I think this power should be the best for my intentions and my weight. Hopefully this will still be dune-able.
Also, if you were wondering, I have bought almost everything off of eBay, the rolling chassis was 1300 the motor was 800, I figure by the time that I am all done and by the time that it looks good, I will have spent a couple of grand less than a brand new bike.
OverRated, what kind of +6 do you have and are you happy with it?

What's the weight of the motorcycle motor and accessories? With the current setup, where is the front/rear balance point?
Too little weight on the rear tires and they'll spin. Too much and it will stand straight up. Also, the angle of the swingarm and the rear shock pressure have an effect on how the motor pushes the front end.

Well put Ubetrun (John) you worded a little better than i did...
The longer the swingarm you put on there..the harder its going to be to hook up...Now with that said..
I dont think you need to go any bigger than a +8..It will take some time to get use to keeping the front down..but you will be better off with it hooking up and wheeling..couse you can learn how to ride that...If you got to big on the back swingarm and your spinning..there is not alot you can do about that...Is what im getting at...But i mean its your quad..you do as you please with it..Im just trying to help ya out a little..Im a old fart LOL iv been there and done most...
