If you have both, that means you own a 400ex, a Raptor, and a DS650? Must suck to be you!!!!!

400ex has better handeling, brakes, suspension, and overall ease of use.
the Raptor has better power, looks, colors, and can be used in every type of sport riding(except motocross)and it has reverse.more costly though.
both good bikes. I would probably go with the raptor because you get more power stock with it than a modified 400ex.. to a point.

Actually I own a 400ex, raptor, and a 250R. I sold the DS and bought a Raptor. The Raptor is the best bike i have ever ridden.

rptr911, sorry you gotta sort through all the b.s. to get some info on your choice.
I own NEITHER one, but am giving my OPINION anyway.
If I was going to buy one right now, I'd get a 400ex. Reason being, it has been around for a couple years, has a zillion aftermarket goodies, it has the bugs worked out of it, and has already proven itself as a very competetive, and reliable machine.
The Raptor MAY be just as competetive and reliable, but I NEVER buy a vehicle that is brand new, "right off the drawing board".
I think the Raptor is an awesome machine, but until they go through the "recall" stage of it's life, I'd hold out. I'd rather have a Raptor, but if I were to buy one of the two choices today, I'd bring home a 400ex.
My OPINION. I'm not saying my opinion is always right, or that it should be shared by everybody, so don't start any argument crap with me.
Good luck with your choice, and let us know which one you go with.

I would take plenty of time looking at and even riding the two if you got the chance before making a choice, I have a raptor and think it is great, I ride with alot of 400EX's and have rode them on occasions, im used to the feel of the raptor so the 400EX feels funny to me but is still a very nice machine!! On the trails theres very little difrence in the pits its much more noticeable, alot of this is due to the raptors tires, I nor my neighbor have had any major problems with the raptor, ( i had a clutch fade problem once on a tight mountain trail but my neighbor was with me a had none ) But i have never seen one of the 400EX's have a problem either, I would recomend the raptor BUT the choice is yours take your time, and im sure you will enjoy ether one!!! Hope this helps

Listen, Its all about how you ride and what you want to do with the bike. The only difference between the two is Speed,Reverse, and enigineering. Honda makes a great bike, however Yamaha has reverse and the speed is not that big of a difference. Look at the tests dirtwheels had between the 400, 650, and raptor. It was all pretty close in most areas. The thing you need to ask yourself is, Do I want to race? Do I want do run motorcross? or do I want to pud around? Then look at your money situation. No fun riding broke. Like I said its all how you ride. I race in the FTR hare scrambles and Ive beat Raptors, 400, 650 and banshees on my 350 Warrior.

Hey ChrisDS650, I just put money down on a new 400ex, what recalls are you referring to?
