Forget any of those useless "racing quads" the scrambler 400 can out run all them machines in the real world. Ha, the scrambler can even beat a 400ex in a drag plus I have reverse and more low end for about $800 bucks less.
You all can keep your good for nothing "RACE QUAD" that can't even make it through a mud puddle, I'll stick to my out dated polaris.
When I buy a machine thats going to leave a bent in my bank account it better do whatever I want it to with no trouble.PERIOD.

Racer18J, I believe the recall on the 400ex is for the rear brake caliper. Nothing to be worried about if you're buying it new. If it's used, inquire about it. Either way, it's not a major repair thing, just a small fix.

 

Atleast honda will admit its mistakes, maybe yamaha could set all pride aside and worry about their machine hurting someone.

 

That's an interesting post coming from you since you just recently posted that you don't like bashing other's machines, yet when you're in the Yamaha or Honda forums that's all I seem to see you doing...

If you like your Polaris, that's great. We like our Honda and Yamaha "good for nothing race machines".

He did not ask about a Scrambler, so it's probably safe to assume that he's not interested in one. As for your claims about it's performance, that is to be debated, but if it's a wonderful as many of you Polaris owners say it is, I don't know why anyone even bothers making anything else.....

The question here was about somebody second-guessing a purchase he's in the middle of making. How is preaching the word of Polaris supposed to help him???

I give companies like honda and yamaha credit (I think I also mentioned that to in earlier post)for making the once down on performance 4 stroke engine comparable to high performanced two strokes.

Actually there is quite a bit of difference in the way they make power. We have a 400EX and a Raptor (and a 4x4 500 Scram) and the EX makes much better low end controllable power. The Raptor with it's taller gearing and light flywheel is quite a bit harder to control at very low speeds. Even with the 12 tooth front sprocket on the Raptor, the Honda is much easier to ride over rough terrain (rocks etc) at slow speed. So you are right, you really need to be honest in what type of riding you are going to do, in different situations the Honda, Raptor or Scrambler could be the best quad for you.

 

The recall was some idiots at Honda installing both rear brake pads on the same side of the rotor. Thus the rear brakes would not work and some people have claimed injury because of it. I think if my rear brakes didn't work, I would have found out BEFORE I really needed them. Just my 2 cents worth.
