get the 400ex. A American bike. Don't get a cheaply made japanese foreign bike. with the extra money u save with buying the 400 u can make it beat a raptor. Plus the 400 just look's better

 

Hey Hondasrules all what you say is wrong ! Honda is made and designed by Japanese . And you say that Japanese is cheap well I have some big news for you because, I don't know anybody on earth that can say that Polaris are reliable!!!!

 

I can POLARIS IS RELIABLE, and the scrambler is the most versitile quad ever built.

Dont forget about grease fittings. I am not sure but I dont think the 400ex has any.The raptor has plenty.

 

You can buy a very nice used 400ex with lots of goodies on it for less than $4500.oo if you look around. Im not saying Raptors are bad in fact I want to get one. Just right now nice 400ex's are inexpensive Due to raptormania.

 

The 400ex is an awesome machine and is no push-over by any means, but the Raptor ups the ante considerably with more of this and more of that. Honda dropped the ball when they didn't put reverse on the 400ex....Just keeping it real!!!

Raptor wins hands down! I've owned both machines and there's no way a 400ex's handling can compare to the extra power you get from the Raptor. If your into performance then there's no contest between the two. Not to mention you got reverse. I was a huge Honda red rider most of my life. But when I got on the Raptor all that changed. I was tired of Honda livin off their reputation of the oldie but goodie 250r. Yamaha has been stepping up the competition in all categories including the yz426, R1, watercraft, and now the Raptor. Finally Honda makes one watercraft and come out with a 250ex quad. Give us true diehard entusiast a break an automatic 250! What a girlie bike! Just face it Honda is years behind in research as compared to Yamaha. And now they too wish to once again follow in Yamahas footsteps and start making 4 stroke dirt bikes and watercraft. What's next Snowmobiles? How can you Red Riders justify your tired companies sorry shortcomings? Just be happy that you got the 4ooex because that's the only decent machine they have made besides the CBR929 in a long long time. Get a life Honda doesn't rule anymore Yamaha has been ahead for some time now!!!!!!!

 

I own a 00 400ex and 01 raptor, The 400 is a great machine until you ride a raptor. It does everything the 400 does and all the extra power and speed just makes it that much better. If you are an old man or just putt around on trails look at the scramblers,I can say that I had a 99 500 4x4.It was powerful,but so is a garbage truck and how much fun would it be to drive one of those. just my opinion I'm sure other peoples will be differant.

 

If your looking for the best race quad, go with the 400ex. I dont know which one would be better for everything else.
