Default ? about plowing

I have a 06 Kodiak 450 that I just bought a 50" Moose plow for with a 3K winch. I was wondering how much snow I can reasonabely expect to plow with it? We are supposed to get around 1-1.5 feet in the next two days. I don't want to burn it out. Any opinions ???

Depends on how heavy the snow is, and how far you're pushing it. You shouldn't have any trouble pushing a foot and a half as long as you're taking your time with it, and not trying to plow a 50 foot driveway in 3 passes. If it seems like the quad is working too hard, then that's a good enough sign to slow down a little and take smaller passes. Or just take a big running start at it like my neighbor does with his jeep lol.

U will get wheel spin before you have to worry about straining the motor.

Just dont hit any cracks at mid or high speeds, itll bend your mount and plow.

If its light fluffy snow, you shouldnt have any problems. Just angle your blade and go up the middle, pushing to both sides. that way it'll be easier to push on the last pass ( only 1/2 the total vol. of snow).

If has a lo range make sure it is in lo.
Plow it as far off as can to make room for more as the winter goes on.
Angle the blade.

Thanks for the replies. What is the best way to angle the plow? This is my first ATV so I have zero experience to go by. Also I have never plowed with a truck either. My quad does have low so I do have that going for me. We bombed out on the storm so far (only about 2") but they say maybe 3-6 tonight!!!!

The plow should have a lever on it that fits into indents with different setting for different angles left or right.
If there is a lot of snow, start by pushing snow on 1/2 the plow and once you've made a few passes, you'll get the feel of what the machine and plow can handle.
I love plowing, it's like play time and my wife says I'm smiling the whole time.

Thanks and I'll check it out. We work nights and just got up to find NO NEW SNOW Maybe tonight. The plow was part of the justification for the ATV to the wife. Can't wait to push the white!

You'll be amazed at how much snow you can plow..... Good advice to keep it well back the first time to save room for more as winter goes on. I plow close to a mile of laneway and have yet to get too much snow, keep shoving it. I use a home made plow so I treat it pretty rough because it is heavy duty. You'll get to know how much angle and if you want to keep it slightly raised as time goes on. It is great fun to spend the evening plowing snow!!
