fourwheeler block alumminum or cast iron???

Default fourwheeler block alumminum or cast iron???

i was wondering if any one knew if yamaha utility atv blocks are alluminum or cast iron??? i would have to think they are alluminum b/c they dont crack when you hit 38 degree water with a really hot block.... just wondering if you know

more than likely aluminum. take a magnet to it. if it sticks, it is not aluminum.

Cast aluminum for sure. The only cast iron would be items like the crank and cam. I'm 99.99% sure all their bike/ATV motors have always been cast aluminum. Even their V8 car motors were aluminum back in the mid 90s. A lot of engineering goes into the metal work. A lot of people think cast is cast.. steel is steel.. but a lot of things we see today were engineered from many years of R&D and factory racing teams. A good example is the rear subframe on the Raptor 700 and the cast aluminum swingarms on most super bikes. This goes all the way back to the 50s when Yamaha had its technology/R&D from making cast piano frames and used it to start making motors.
