2003 kodiac 400
Hi all,
I just bought a 2003 Kodiac 400 to suvey a landfill site (300 acres of mud, thick mud and large hidden holes!!!) , I know nothing about quads and there is no instruction manual, anyways! whilst driving along in longish grass the front of the quad went into a hole full of water, it went in up to the handle bars, it started fine but obviously i got water into the "belt box". After running it for about an hour it eventually started to go again. For future reference, i read there is a plug somewhere, can someone tell me where is it? so that i can be prepared in future, also does anyone have a 2003 kodiac manual on pdf?
Thanks any help appreciated
Gordon

There should be a plug at the lower edge of the cvt cover. Just pull it out, and to dry out the belt, run it at a bit higher rpms than idle (so the belt will rotate), but do it in nuetral. If you are in high, and the belt is slipping, youll put a bit of stress on the belt. Doing the elevated rpms in nuetral allows the belt area to dry, with out stressing the belt.
Check ebay for the service manual.

Dude I'm not 100% on yours but on mine (06 Kodiak 450) the plug is located just on the inside of your right foot when you're sitting on the 4wheeler. Look on the right side of the engine and you'll see the v-belt cover. The plug is on the bottem of the cover right where the foot peg is. Pull it out when you have water in the v-belt. You should be able to just pull it out with your fingers.
