Default New Guy Here With A Few Questions

Hey everyone, ive been reading these forums for the past week or two and have a few questions, i just picked up a 06 Blaster, and went and picked up some fluids as well as other maintanence products. My first question is with the Oil. Do i have to run Yamalube 2S or can i go with Yamalube 2R. The guy in the parts department said 2R is to thick to use for the oil injection system and said stick with the 2S. Is this True? If so is there another oil that is suitable for the injection system that is up to par with 2R?

Since i bought the blaster a few weeks back i picked up some new tires. Some Innova Power Gears i think, and so far they feel pretty good. I plan on getting a filter possibly UNI tomorrow and in the coming weeks an exhaust system. Do i need to rejet it with adding just the filter or will i be ok? When i add the exhaust i would have to rejet it correct?

Is there any other advise or tips in terms of mods, maintanence, do and donts for this blaster. Its an 06 Special Edition one.

Thanks

You can run any yamalube 2 stroke oil. The oil injection will only get clogged over time with thick oil. I would reccomend breaking the engine in with a non-synthetic oil for 4-5 tanks then switch to a fully synthetic oil (I prefer amsoil its not as expensive as some oils yet works amazing.) Statistics have shown that is the safest and best way you can break in your motor.

I have never heard of the tires you have purchased, im sure someone else on here can enlighten you with there experiences on those tires.

An air filter is probably the most cost efficient upgrade you can buy. Some people do rejet there bikes with just an air filter upgrade however it is definitly not needed. Ive had by shee over 3 years now with a K&N with stock jetting without a prob. (I think the bieks are jetted rich from the factory)

As for maintanance, tips, ect.... Change your tranny oil (once again I use amsoil) at least every 4-5 hard rides. There is nothing that will be better maintanance than making sure you have fresh oil in the quad. I would also reccomend installing an oil injection block off kit. The oil pumps on blasters have been known to fail and this is a precautionary step in preventing that. Not to mention you dont have 2 quarts of oil hanging off your quad. After you do that you obviously mix the gas (the ratio verys from person to person. I run 40:1). Another thing you will want to do is buy a T.O.R.S removal kit. That is one of the best things you can do to your quad. If you have any questions try doing a search or PMing me, if you have no luck then drop another post.

MOST OF ALL....... Have fun and ride safe.

I have had a set of the Innova colored tires and was not pleased. I would recommend against the camo or colored tires. They chipped out and did not wear well. It seems that the color is replacing the carbon black which helps the wear characteristics.

They also have the conventional black tires called "Mud Gear". They are six ply rated and priced well. My next set of tires will be these.

Yeah i picked up the Black Innova Tires, i believe they where power gears. they supposedly are compared to the Shredders. I took them out last weekend and they handled very well. So far i am pleased. The price was great as well. 40 a tire.
