I would think there is only one optimal setting for the machine that is based upon a number of factors which include (for a start) altitude, climate, air intake (varies depending on whether you have a dirty filter, clean filter, a non OEM filter, etc.) and exhaust system (stock, baffle modification, performance slip-on, full performance system, etc).

So for you Grizzly owners, just increasing the number will not necessarily improve your machines performance. Note that ATVScene (the producer of the video) already had a performance exhaust system installed when they were experimenting with and documenting these parameter modifications. The Yamaha FI system (from what I understand) does not self compensate when you modify the air flow or exhaust flow rate by installing an aftermarket performance oriented air filter or exhaust system, and in such a case a modification of the fuel mixture or flow rate would be necessary to compensate for the air intake and / or exhaust change to bring the engine back to optimal operating efficiency.

Still, I will likely be experimenting with this myself!...

Yamaha has provided a great system to fine tune fuel delivery for exhaust and intake mods with no need for aftermarket fuel controllers. See Highlifter for details. I wonder what this development will mean for other manufacturers. Who would want to buy an EFI 680 Rincon, 700 King, 700 AC, Bomb, or Sportsmen? I would guess that all manufacturers except possibly Honda will have this by 2008. Way to go Yamaha!!!

What Old Turtle said. The 700 Grizzly may very well cause a technology jump in the Utility ATV market. With EPS steering and now a user adjustable fuel injection system, the 700 Grizz brings too much to the table for the other manufacturers to ignore. Many credit the 660 Grizzly with spurring the big bore jump in the market. It looks like Yamaha has done it again with the 700.
