just bought a descent little 02 blaster 2 days ago and im cruisin along n i get it into 5th gear and im comin around a turn n trying to downshift and it wouldnt go down i stopped n tried rocking it a million times n using my hand to push it down n it just like stuck like the gears are stripped or something as of now its still stuck in 5th gear it starts n u can ride it around but it obviously isnt verypowerful nor fun to ride does anybody know what this could be and what parts i would need n how much it would cost thanks alot

 

Hows the oil level?
Does the clutch engage and disengage? (might be a broken clutch cable)
Is there something jammed in your chain/sprockets?

 

I cant think its just a clutch, no manual atv or even a vehicle requires a clutch to shift with the engine off. I can hop on mine with out the clutch and shift, and with a broken clutch cable it wouldnt be ridable at all, the motor would stall out from the load every time you went to kick start it unless you could get it into neutral. I would guess its more the transmission. Ive never had to tear into an atv tranny, but if its anything like an auto tranny it could have scyronizers that make the gears mesh and if are bad it could cause this, also bearings. Could be any number of things, but if it were me I would start looking more heavily into a transmission rebuild.

 

ya it sounds like the oil dried up and it got stuck, u should'nt have rode around in 5th gear like that. u must be a kid. u most likely need a rebuild. the worse thing about blasters is mostly kids ride em, and since they are a 2 stroke u need to maintain em real good. its not a 250 ex honda u know. u had a good 02 u killed it.

 

its sounds like your star on the end of your shift drum broke its key way , just got done fixin my little brothers it located in the right side crankcase cover behind the clutch basket we got a rebuit one from eastcoast atv they just welded the star to the drum.

we put it back to gether it ran great for one day, then messed up again have not had time to t
ake it back apart again hopfuly tomorrow will advise the out come

im 19 not a kid and what u mean i shouldnt have drove it around in 5th gear man i was cruising up my road and once i was in 5th gear and was tryna down shift when a turn was comin up it wouldnt go down it just was stuck in 5th gear and i just bought the thing 2 days ago its nuthing i did i only rode the thing for 2 mins

without taking it apart no, but you descibe yours the same the same way . his ,once it got stuck in gear the sfifter would still move but you could shift it all day without any change . like i said we got a drum from east coast Ibeleave for $45.00, you have to tear the motor apart to to replace the drum . after seeing the new drum all they did was put the star on and weld it . if i had do it over again i would try toget it welded why it still in the motor, because if it does not get welded on the back side of the star, just across the front


like i said im pretty confident your problem is the same. get a manual read the trans section , clutch to get a ideal what the tear down is like. if you can weld it in motor all you will out is a couple of gaskets. if you got to tear it down it might get lot more exensive depending on the condion of the motor

 

thanks alot one more questiion know how u said u can use the shifter but it doesnt move to u mean like the acual quad is stuck in a high gear but u can shift down and up it just doesnt do anything cuz mine i cant even move the gear shifter into another gear its like stuk in 1 spot and i can only move it like a inch up and a inch down u know what i mean

 

right the shaft moves but it does not fell like it is not hittting moving anything.

the shifter lever goes motor and it has arm on the other end that hit the star when the keyway brea
kes the arm is still turning the star but the star is just spinning on the drum that why you don't fill the click. because the drum is not turn you aint shifting gears
