blasters are a good novice quad if you like two strokes. yes they are more maintenace. but if you leave it stock you'll get a good life out of the top end. ride one before you buy. very short wheel base (flip easy on hills)

The blaster is very reliable! They are one of the most reliable qauds I have owned.HAd 3 so far.I bought the one I have now blown up.It did not suprise me though.Considering the air filter that was on it was basicly disenagrated!Keep the airfilters clean and oiled.Jetted properly,a good qaulity 2 stroke oil.(I only run yamalube 2-s in mine)You should have a long life out of a the top end.I got mine bored, ported, and new pro-x piston and gaskets for 130 bucks. And also got a new uni air filter and keep it clean and oiled.I also look to see if the exhaust it smoking to make sure the injector system is working. And about flipping on hills easily. We went to st joe state park which has some pretty steep hills on my 98 blaster and my dad and where going up hills the 4x4's wouldn't go up. with no probs.Just keep your weight forward and be easy on the gas and it will go up the same hills any other 2wd qaud will.

hope I helped

Anything flips easy if you dont know how to ride. I would say your best bet is to get a few year old one for about $1500-1800, and bore it out and everything with pipe, filter. You will have a badd little bike. They are well worth it. They are 95-98's in the paper here all the time for around $1500.
