Grizzly 700 winch mounting
#1
I have just Received a new winchmount for my new Grizzly 700 that i had shipped to the UK from Kappers Fabrication MN and its a first class product. There is a provision at the rear of the mount to locate the winch solenoid, do you think this is a suitable place to mount the solenoid? as it will certainly get mud and water splashed over it, there doss'nt seem to be enough room under front covers where the battery is to fit it.

That's where mine is mounted.... so far so good... (been in water up past the headlights)
(course, i also had the dealership mount mine... so I could include it in the waranty)

I think it would be ok to mount the solonoid in that location, and to drive through water over the top of the solonoid. But it would not be ok to operate the winch while water is over the top of the solonoid...
I mounted my solonoid inside the storage container under the right front fender. It is protected from splashing water, and is high enough that it should not be submerged in water with normal use, especially being as I used silicone to seal the area where the wires enter the storage container. And I never could use that storage container to store anything anyway, because it was so small and wierd shaped to begin with.

Got my Grizz back from the dealer this week after they put the winch on, and thats where they put the contacter as well. ( On the back of the mounting plate) The owners manual that came with the winch says to mount it in a place where it can stay dry. But if Yamaha says to put it there instead, I guess it's O.K. Dog
