I have had the 700R since august of 05 and it got plenty cold here in the great Northwest last winter and I have yet to have a starting problem. Most of the cold start problems are self inflicted by folks who unconciously (sp) give it throttle when starting and foul the plug.

Most people know not to hit the gas when they start their quad.

I started mine up this weekend and it was 15deg. 2 cranks and it started right up. There is no starting problem with mine! DON'T touch the gas when starting the bad boys, thats when you get the fouling and hard start etc. NEVER had a problem with my 1st year raptor starting.
