Yeah, I dont know who your telling to get your facts straight! I know not to use throttle on fuel injection when starting. Charging battery cuz I ran it down trying to get it started. It was getting plenty of spark before it ran down. Never had this problem til cold weather set in, just odd. Gonna try new plug after I charge battery. Kinda crazy when you got $8K in a fuel injected quad that has starting issues and your other ones have no issues. LOL.

 

RaptorRandy is correct, the ECU on the Grizzly and the Raptor are different. You can see for yourself by going to Yamaha's website, click on the "Parts & Service tab". There are different ECU part numbers for these two quads, 1S3-8591A-00-00 for the Raptor and 3B4-8591A-00-00 for the Grizzly.

I was telling JLSparky to get his facts straight.

I suggested that you get an NGK CR8EIX irridium plug, 98% of the time that will cure your problem.


With the EFI if the quads not running you can pump on the throttle all you want and it won't do anything but once started in cold weather the fuel enrichment circut adds a good amount of extra fuel and if you throttle it up before it's warm it's going to foul the plug. I wasn't saying you didn't know what you were doing, I was trying to help you out.

And they run extra special good when you have the custom map[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]

 

Damn straight, started it up an hour ago, dang, she sounds sweet, gotta love that Custom Map [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

Ive tried finding them but I cant. There are several posts on here about 700r's not starting in the winter. Jump all over my **** some more.

 

And those are the ones that gassed them up when they were still on the fuel enrichment circut before the coolant temp comes up and fuel fouled the plug[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]




A few isolated incedents does not constitute a known problem like that of the documented cold start issue with the Grizzley's

 

What octane fuel you running?

If you run 87 octane in the winter it will make cold starts that much easier, especially since the 700 is only running 9.2:1 compression.

 

ACCORDING TO THE LATEST ISSUE OF QUAD MAGAZINE THEY DO HAVE VAPOR LOCK ISSUES , HOWEVER YAMAHA REDESIGNED THE FUEL PUMP TO BETTER HANDLE WINTER FUELS WITH LOWER BOILING POINTS.THE NEW FUEL PUMP NOW HAS A 0.8MM VAPOR BLEEDER HOLE , WHICH HAS FIXED THE PROBLEM.MAGAZINE ALSO SAID THEY HAD FAN ISSUES, VERY EASY & NO COST FIX. ALL INFO . ON PAGE 54 OF THEMARCH 2007 ISSUE.
