Default 06 700R Raptor starting problem!

Won't start, it's backfiring out the exhaust after it cranks over a few times. (Makes one loud pop) Plug is a little wet but is getting good spark. Ran fine in warm weather, had this problem since it got cold. Don't know if it is coincidence. I got it running earlier then went to put seat on and it died. Ran battery dead messing with it so got to charge battery now. 06 SE. Yoshi full exhaust, ProDesign w/ K&N intake, Dynatek programmer. Any ideas or has anyone experienced this.

The grizzly700 and 700 raptor are both having the problem. Its the EFI, just juys of owning a 1st generation vehicle. Heres some things you can try.

Charge the battery
Lighter weight oil
Store the ATV in a heated garage (if possible)
Might want to look into a stronger battery if your manual says u can use one

The problem seems to be the EFI so I wouldnt get your hopes up on any of this working.

Well I am charging the battery as we speak. I just bought a shop in town which will be heated so I guess I can store it in there. But what is the problem with the EFI? Thx alot. Any more info or input you have is appreciated. Thx.

Are you touching the throttle at all? Don't do it. These things run very rich during warm up and will foul a plug sometimes just by blipping the throttle. Let it idle at least a few minutes before you even touch the throttle. I would try changing the spark plug (assuming your battery has full charge). If that won't help, maybe your TPS is going bad. I had to replace mine sometime back.
Other than a bad TPS, mine has never failed to start. Even sitting out in the cold.

I have not heard of ANY 700r having cold start problems! The other forum I am a part of has no such issues of cold start problems. Mine is an 2006 and has always started! It was 10 deg. today and started up in 3 cranks. Oh and mine is stored in a shed with no heat. It is the grizz only with the problem that i have heard

Get your facts straight, there is no problem with the 06 or 07 Raptor's EFI

To the original poster, charge the bat and go get an NGK CR8EIX and don't look back. Remember you never need to touch the throttle to start or after it's lit off like Ozark stated.

JLsparky7,

Small world, I live in Brownstown too.

I just bought a 700SE and rode it a few time yesterday (first day of ownership). The temp yesterday was about 25 degrees if not colder. I did not have any issues starting it.

Talk to you later.

Jeff

That's incorrect info, the ECU's for the 2 different machines carry different factory programming.

This a is a grizzly problem not a Raptor problem.
