well i have an 02 660 with a moose pipe thats about all the performance mods i have on it. But in thinking about selling it for a 02-07 z400. do you think thats a wize choise? I have herd the z400 has close to 40hp and i think the raptor is around 35 stock. so do the differ in power buy a lot or are they close. i just do trail riding most of the time. and also i heard that the suspension is better on the z400.

 

I have an 05 Z and its a very nice machine...not sure if I could hang with a660 or not..they are both nice machines in my opinion. The rappy is very comfortable. My friend has one and I like it as well.

 

The Raptor should beat a 400.
They are both good quads.
Although slower,the 400 has good power and is alot of fun.

 

Dude, youre in the Yamaha section of the forums and asking to compare a Yamaha with a 'Zuk. The Raptor ought to woop a 400! Keep the Raptor!!!!

 

a z will run good with some mods. but the torque you get from the rappy will get you out of trouble. if you are too high a gear . my buddy and i are both big guys and when we go to the coast we do a lot of tree shots. he'll get pissed cuz his Zwont pull him out of the hole like my raptor will. i usually make it out pretty good whereas it takes him a few tries just cuz it pulls the motor down and he cant maintain the wheelspeed necessary to come out of the hole.

you may have heard wrong ,the Z comes stock with about 27 hp at the rear wheel . it can be modified to a point were it will put out 40 hp or more at the rear wheel.
the Z is said to be a better trail quad ,but if i had a 660 i think i would do a few mods to it ,should not be that hard to get 10-12 more hp from it .

 

I own both bikes. The Raptor is much more powerful than the Z400. If you want speed, stick to the Raptor. The Z400 does offer a smoother ride (less vibration) and is easier to kick the rear end around, but it is also a bit small for taller riders.

 

yea a raptor has like 35hp stock i think and a z400 has like 27-30 stock but overall i think z400 is better and quicker revving but the 660 will outpower and outspeed the z400,you also gotta keep in mind the z400 has a better resale value then raptor usually,id keep the 660 tho,there choked up bikes off production you put a pipe and jet it and get a good filter setup at the least itll make a huge difference.
