Removing tie rods

Default Removing tie rods

whats the easiest way to remove tierods from a warrior im trying to knock them of the outside where it goes into the steering knuckle,im not sure how to do it without a pickle fork,the only way i know is by prying down on the tierod then hitting the part where it threads threw the arm or whatever with a hammer,i tried it and it didnt work unless im missing something or didnt do it hard enough,any help plz

there are some abll joint removers on the market, just buy the size that fits the tie rod end.

loosen the lock nuts and turn it in the middle with a wrench

If they're bent.. or otherwise ruined... a sawzall works great. Just cut in half, and then you can easily remove them. (Had to do this a couple weeks ago)

Otherwise... There's a flat spot on them. Use a pair of vice-grips.

If you're refering to the balljoint portion... then I'd have to go look to remember how...

Default Removing tie rods

Take a big hammer, preferrably an 8lb short handled sledge hammer, and hit the steering knuckle where the tie rod end goes into it. It will come loose.

Do not hit the end of the tie rod or you can mushroom over the threads and you'll hafta replace the whole end. Do not put the castle nut on it and try hitting that either. You will either damage the threads or bend the castle nut and render it useless.
