yamaha warrior cutting out
#1
I have a 2000 warrior that sat for about a year. It ran great. I recently got it running again but when you quickly open the throttle it tries to die and will die if I let it. I have rebuilt the carb but it still does the same thing. Could the air cut off valve cause this? It also puffs a little smoke at idle but cleans up at higher RPM and backfires a tiny bit on decel. It still runs and idles fine but you have to crack the throttle a little before nailing it. It only has 60 hrs on it. Any suggestions.

100 percent stock. Not even a K&N. I'm not sure of the jetting but it is stock too. The weird thing is it ran perfect prior to being parked. Something has happened from sitting unused. I found that the problem goes away if I crank up the idle to 2200rpm. Do you think the air cut off valve could cause this? When I pulled it apart the first time it was wet with fuel on both sides of the diaphram. However, the second time it wasn't. ???????????????

Keep trying to clean the pilot passages. The best thing you can do is totally take the carb apart again and soak it overnight. You can buy a 1gal carb dip kit at a auto parts store. Set your pilot screw to two turns out. We had a 2004 that sat for a year and it refused to run right until the carb was put in a parts washer overnight.
