Grizzly 700 Shifter Adjustment ?
#1
Grizzly 700 Shifter issue :
Does any one have a fix for this shifter. Is it a linkage issue ? The quad is hands down the best thing I have ridden, however, the shifter is driving me crazy. No matter how low the idle, or if I do the "Take the machine out of park tango " you feel like you are going to break off the lever.

i agree the shifting can be a bit difficult at times. It seems like it is the worst going from drive to nuetral. I went from high to reverse then to nuetral to get it into nuetral sometimes. I will check with my dealer to see if there is any adjustment. BTW I put about 30 miles on the new Grizz today, and it performed very well. Of course I took it very easy for the break in, but still it has a ton of power at half throttle. Not real happy with the stock tires, I already have someone that wants them, so I will soon be changing to my Mudlites and ITP wheels. Other than that I really like the new Grizz.

BTW in case the new Grizz owners weren't aware, you must engage the back brake in order to shift in / out of Park or Reverse. There is an interlock switch that is controlled by the back brake.
My '02 Grizzly used to shift a little hard too, but it has gotten buttery smooth with age. The 700 seems to be a little stiffer though. Sometimes I can not go straight from Park to Low. When that happens I stop at neutral, blip the throttle, let it go back to idle then shift it the rest of the way. I haven't looked into a solution yet because it doesn't do it that often...

Yep, what 2TV said. My 07 Grizz 660 has a rear brake interlock for park and neutral. Either the rear brake foot pedal or hand lever must be depressed to shift. The shift linkage was a little stiff when new but is smoothing up with use. I have also read on other boards of some 700 bikes needing the shift linkage adjusted slightly.

I am well aware that you have to use the back break to shift, I even use both brakes at times. As I stated earlier, the "Take me out of park Tango" meaning hold brakes, rock back and forth. I just don't think that it's good for the shifting mechanism to be that harsh. There has to be an adjustment or somehow to make it smoother.

The shifter gets much better after you log some hours.I agree that the shifter is a pain.I removed the shift lock cable from the machine....It takes about a half hour to remove and it can be reinstalled with ease.It was such a treat to not have it compounding the shifter ignorance.
Give it some time.
