Default oil filter help

Thanks for this great discussion. I do not see any reference to WIX filters. I'm looking at a WIX 51358 for my 450 Grizzly. First oil change used a Yamaha filter. Having looked around I see the Purolator ONE to be highly touted. Any comment/suggestions? How about the anti-drainback back feature, which the Purolator and the WIX apparently contain? Thanks in advance!

Default oil filter help

Ok Guys a new question. I just bought a Yamaha filter for my 07 wolvy. The filter was over 12.00 What are you guys paying for a filter? Im looking for a cross reference to another filter.

Also when you take the filter off, does it retain some of the oil? If so how do you keep it from running all over the enging? Doesn look like a very good design to me.

Most filters retain some oil either in it or on top of it, and will spill when you take it off. Go to www.amsoil.com and do a check for your machine and cross reference it. It may be more, but VERY high quality, possibly the best

Default oil filter help

I use K&N oil filters on my bike and they seem to hold up good. advance auto or auto zone can cross reference them to your bike and order them.

Default oil filter help

Finally got some Purolator One #PL14610 at Smith's Marketplace, for $5.66, which is what used to be Fred Meyer in Utah.
They look great and I'll use them and the Supertech #ST7317 available at Wal-Mart for $2.77.

My dealer strongly recommended using 10W-40 once things start to warm up around here. Went with 5W-30 for the first oil change @ 20 hrs, since it's often below zero in these parts right now. Yamalube is so expensive that I will look over the forum for other options, OR..... is it really wise, or worth it, to get a cheaper oil? I understand that we want to go ti motorcycle oil, not just motor oil.
