Default K&N Powerlid or Foam Filter

I am considering getting a powerlid but I am not sure about the additional maintenance that it will require. My YFX450 sucks a lot of air and I always keep 1 clean foam filter on the bike plus one clean one in a plastic bag ready to go. I change the filter for the clean one almost every trip out. If I change to the K&N powerlid I am wondering if I will then need to clean two filters, one in the lid and one in the air box everytime out.

Does anyone have any experience with the powerlid?? Is it a maintenance nightmare?? Are the power gains sufficient to warrant the expense?

Think of it as a restriction. Sure it's better than a closed air box but not as good as a removed lid. Seems like more maintenance to me.

So the powerlid seems like a waste of money. If I remove the lid do you recommend a pre-filter?

If you do a lot of fine silty dust riding the pre-filter is a good idea.
