banshee sputtering on low end, alot of smoke out of one exaust
#1
hey, hows it going, i have a banshee, and it always worked good, but lately, its been running real bad, from 1st to 3rd gear no matter what throttle you give it it spits and sputters real bad, you can also hear one exaust pipe pinging real bad, also there is alot of smoke coming out of the right side exaust but there is not much coming out of the other side of the exaust. i adjusted the carbs a few times now and they seem to be right, also i just got done putting on a new cdi unit and that dident help, its hard to tell if its fire or if its flooding. also when the bike is cold it starts right up with one kick, but after its warm it will not start at all, you have to wait about 20 minuts to cool before it goes agian, and when is hot it will not idle, but when its cold it will idle fine. any help would be greatly appreacited, thanks alot, sorry its long. bye

What year shee?
How have you tried to fix it?
Done a compression check?
Put new plugs in?
Cleaned the carbs?
Checked coil?
Have you adjusted the idle?
Have you adjusted the idle screw?

bike is a 1994, just got done putting in new pistons and rings a couple months ago(bored .20 over) the compression is exactly the same on both cylinders, they were both 110. plugs are not that old (ngkR) wires are a few years old, i have not tested the coil or tried another one. also i forgot to mention a couple things in my first post. when i said it sputters real bad from 1st to 3rd well it does do that but once you put it into 4th gear about half throttle it clears right up and takes right off 4th 5th 6th it works perfectly, lots of power and the motor sounds real nice. also i have taken out both pulgs and checked the fire cold and warm (but not hot) and they seem to be fire coming out of both about the same, a nice blueish colour. thanks.

no not this time, but it was done before, im not sure what size jet is in there now but i belive it is a little bigger than stock (i could be wrong) also i just fired it up a little while ago and found that there is very little air coming out of the right side exaust the other side is perfect, and i put my hand about an inch behind the pipe and gave it a little rev and my hand got coated with oiley balck gunk residue, thanks

as far as i know. anything i should look at?
can i use a compression tester to see if a gasket is leaking?, like kick it over and let the compression gauge sit there for a while? thanks agian.
