connect the short wire to ground, and the longer one gets spliced into the wire going into your coil. At least that's the easiest method. There are other ways, but it's a pain and this way works just as good.

I never worked on a yfz, but usually the coil is under the hood/front plastics. Just follow your spark plug wire, it will plug into a unit that will have a small wire going into it. The small wire is the one you splice into. Make the connection right, by soldering and using shrink tubing to keep water off the joint.

Since my '07 is under warranty yet, I didn't really want to cut into the factory harness. What I did is get one of the Kill Switch install kits from Baldwin Motorsports. You simply unplug a connector, insert this one in line, remove a bolt from the gas tank, put in a new one they give you, crimp on a few terminal connectors on your kill switch, and you're done. A little spendy, but like I said, I'd rather not cut the factory wiring...

Hi

Do you know the color of the wire/s you unpluged? I will just splice into it but I would like to be sure what ones to cut.

Thanks

To do this job right, you will need to remove the front fenders and hood. This is done to route the wires correctly. Remove the seat, gas tank cover, and hood.

Pick a location on your handlebars that you are comfortable with to mount the tether kill. Once you have the tether kill mounted in the desired location you can tighten it down. Keep in mind that most tether kill's have a metal end on one end. You want that end to be the ground to avoid the risk of being shocked if touched while the atv is running.

You now can run the two wires along the wiring harness behind the radiator. Alllow enough slack in the wires for handlebar movement. Trim any extra wire thats left.

Take the wire the comes from the metal side of the tether kill and crimp a fork style connector to the end.
Now loosen the 10mm bolt on the ground side of the coil and place the fork style connecter behind the bolthead and tighten.
Now take the ""orange"" wire from the coil and without cutting it, strip approximatly 1/2 inch of insulation away from the orange wire. Take the last wire from the tether kill and wrap around the stripped section of orange wire. Apply flux and solder together or you can just cut and crimp them together its up to you.

Once you have both wires hooked up and tether kill is attached to the handlebars, check to make sure you can move the handlebars in both directions all the way without pulling on the wires. I would make sure the tether is in working order before putting plastics back on. Once satisfied that the tether is working correctly you can put the plastics back together.

I hope this helps you out , if you need any furthur help , feel free to ask.
