Default banshee or not to banshee?

Several excellent posts. It's nice to see some good, legitamite points about two strokes. I went to the dealership to get a Raptor 700 and came home with a Banshee. I love two strokes, and there was about a 2K difference between them. So, I got Elka's and a full exhaust/filter for the same price of the Raptor (or 450 in your case).
Right on!! Wise choice lol!!

Just to add something from my last Glamis trip. It's pretty hard to move bikes around when you get stuck in sand but it was much easier moving the Banshee with two people. Three of us couldn't move the Raptor, our feet just sank into the sand since the rappy is so heavy. I can load my Banshee onto a full size truck by myself, Id break my back trying to load the Raptor!

We have many quads in our group. When we talk about the quads everyone refers to them as the bikes this, or your bike that... I like how my bike is known as "The Banshee"
It's never the bike, it's not the quad.. It's always mentioned as "The Banshee" & I love it!!!

Also, 4 strokes will be around and improving for years as evidence from the '04 models to '08. Where else can you get a twin 2 stroke...(my friends' dealership still has a black '06, so I know they're out there).

I remember when Banshee's were all over every dealership in our area. Banshee no more, they're gone! I do know a guy who sells used bikes. He has a shack full of old Banshees behind his shop & he doesn't put those out on the floor. However, he does allow me to go in the shack & drool over these babies!! He offers me great deals too!

I didnt read most of the replies, but I will tell you that a well tuned banshee is an absolutely reliable bike.

Ive had MANY quads and bikes, and my 97 Banshee has been the most reliable one, period. (tied with a brand new 400EX I had, along with my 93' KX500 dirtbike)

I have had zero problems with the Banshee. None. Nary a single fouled plug. Nothing. Its finely tuned with FMF Fatty pipes, good air filter, etc, screams like crazy, starts on the first kick no matter what, even in the intense heat deep in the dunes.

It is TRUELY a GREAT machine. The suspension isnt bad AT ALL. Flip the wheels to give the bike a wider stance, set the springs on the softest setting and the bike works great.

(below is a link to a picture of my 97 Banshee)

my dad has had his banshee since 88, only mod is some toomeys. The most reliable thing i have ever seen, always starts up on 1-2 kicks, we have never took the engine apart until a couple weeks ago(blown tranny, but it was our fault hehe) and the cylinders and pistons were not scarred or worn down at all unbelievable i think
