Default Identifying Year of Make

I recently got a twin 350 from someone who had let it sit for a few years. I'm trying to get a book on it. How do i identify the year of make so i can get a book and parts for it. We were able to pull start it with my truck so it runs i just need more info on the quad itself.

Can you post up the vin number?

Sounds like a Yamaha Banshee if it's a twin 350 2 stroke?

VINs are usually longer, I think about 17 digits. Look for it to be stamped into the lower frame tube somewhere.

Sounds like a 2004 Banshee if the vin is correct. It should be 17 digits though. Can you at least verify the last eight digits again?

Does it look like this>

It might be a 1988 depending where the error is in the vin.

If it is a 1990 or earlier it will have the upper J arm instead of an A-arm. In 1991 they went to an upper A-arm to match the lower A-arm in the front suspension. I believe that is the only real difference between a 1988 to a 2007, other than plastic color. Pickup a Clymer manual...it will cover all years.

sorry i left off the last digit

JY42GUW04JC030720 it looks exactly like the quad in the picture but it looks a lot older then 3 years old. 1988 seems more like it.

It's official, it's a 1988 Yamaha Banshee.

Hope this helps!
