sorry guys the help was apreciated but the backfiring is still happening. i tried messing with the idle and that didnt help.. i have noticed that it is now idling pretty rough and dying alot more... could this be valve problems??? i wanna take it in but i dont wanna get stuck with the good old yamaha service telling me "your warranty doesnt cover this" and i'm out 800 bucks... any help would be appreciated----------------------------------------p.s. the backfiring only happens when i am using the engine to slow down i/e meaning deaccelerating while in gear.. and the engine dying was never a problem before ... i only have maybe 25 hours of halfway easy riding on it

 

If it's bone stock and still under warranty, I wouldn't mess with it, it should not be doing that, I would take it in and have them fix it. It could be a TPS problem or a multitude of other things fuel system related. Use that warranty and make em fix it. That thing should run perfect, I know my 06 did/does.
