If you are looking for a new quad a bike stay away fom chicago cycle center. My experience with them was the worst I've ever had with a cycle shop. They told me it would be $5999 plus 200 for assembly for a raptor and it would be in in 5 days. Also, they told me they would give me approxiamately $8100 for my 99 yamaha r1. It sounded too good to be true but I went ahead and gave them a $200 deposit. Two months later the raptor came in. After I got there they said the raptor would be $6600 and they valued my bike at $6400. They thought since raptors are hard to get that they could get whatever they wanted. I told the salesman I cant believe the way they treat people around here and this was his response " You wouldn't believe the raping and pillaging that goes on in this place." Fortunately they gave me my deposit back and I went to a dealer I trust.

the problem was they wanted to give me $6400 for a bike thats worth around $8000. Plus they lied to me. I've bought four sportbikes in the past five years from the same shop in Indianapolis and they always give me a good trade-in value and they have never lied me.

They never give what a bike or car is worth. That is about right the price they wanted to give you. The Raptor is expensive, I havent seen the anymore than $5,499.
You will be better putting your bike in auto trader or the paper.

I just looked up the R1 on kbb.com and they list trade value at $6325. If you were expecting the $8100 they stated earlier, it should have been in writing. I don't think they are out to screw you, but you have to keep in mind that they would have to hold your R1 until spring/summer before they could sell it. In the meantime, they would have to carry the risk of further depreciation and pay interest on the money. That is just the business.

that figure is based on an r1 in good codition w/10600 miles. Mine is in perfect conition w/4300 miles. A friend of mine traded his 99 r1 with appox. 4000-4300 miles and he got $7700.
