im working on horse trading my 83 honda goldwing aspencade for a 91 big bear 350 that looks to be in great shape from the photos but i know nothing about the big bear its self. is it full tim 4 wheel drive, dose it have a high-low range, open or closed diffs ect can any one point my to were i can read up on this bike or give me a good run down on what to look for when i go and inspect it

 

Hey, since noone else decided to respond (seemingly) I'll pipe in my 2cents.

Not 100% on the high-low, but my buddy's 89 has that. The engine/drive train is rock solid bullet proof.

It's full time 4x4, but does not have a locking differential for the front, thereby making it more of a 4x3.5.

It's not a fast, nor particularly comfortable quad, but depending on what you want it for, it may fit your needs. It's an old-school bike.

Check the front u-joint for wear and tear, inspect the exhaust, check the filter to see if it's clean. This will give you a decent indication on if the unit has been well maintained.

well im not buying for a race bike i plan on useing it for trail riding and to take me hunting. im hoping it will keep up with my buddys forman and fortrax if it will do that ill be happy. i would like to find out more about it. is there any were i can go and find ride reviews about it or standard equipment for it?

 

I had a 97 Big Bear, It was the supposidly less desireable model because of no low range. A buddie had two 91s' they both had low range. they are full time FWD with out front locker. Not fast but very dependable and would stary in any weather.

As stated the ride is not near the quality of the newer models but it will get you there. My 97 had a little better ride than the 91. Mine wasn't very fast, about 35 and that was it. The gas tank was small, I used to carry fuel most all the time.

It'll deffinately drag an Elk or deer just don't get in a big hurry getting there.

hey !! how are you ,just read your post ,, well all i can tell you is if the big bear is in goos shape and runs well ,you will have alot of fun with it ..
i have a 1999 big bear 350 and it is absolute work horse,, it is amazing what it can go through and what it will climb .. i have had mind 1year now ,and it has been everything that it is was told it would be for me on the trails ..hope you enjoy it ,, keep me posted on your big bear o.k .thks ,,have a good one
