Contrary to what you may hear...Yes, the 440 kit in the 400ex does make it less reliable. The 440ex will be more torquey off the line and will probably loose in a long drag (if that's any concern for you). After owning both bikes new, I would have to go with the Banshee over the overrated (in my opinion) 400ex. The Banshee is prabably suspended better after the the suspension mods. Whichever you go with, definately do a compression check. Ride both!

I will go with the Honda, I'm not a Honda fanatic, I used to have Banshee's before, and I'm impressed with the new Raptor, but I'm also very impressed with the performance of the 400ex vs the Banshee.
When I buy the 400ex I did it because I found a really good deal, so my idea was to have it for 6 to 9 months and sale it later for the new Yamaha or Honda or Cannondale high performance ATV.
But all I can say is that I'm in love with him, and that's why I have been investing money on it that I was saving for the new incoming bike, and this include a 440 kit, a exhaust, TCS shocks, full Aluminin protection, CDI, Handlebar, and much more to come like new carb, etc.....
I mostly do XC and all my friends have Banshee's and they can not keep up with me in trails or on a MX. I don't enjoy drag racing on my ATV, if that's what you like go with the Banshee, if not, go with the Honda 400ex.

When i say 440ex or Banshee, Im not neccesarily comparing asking you to them in a race. I just want to know which would be easier to maintain with a good speed, I dont need the fastest quad on the market. Will the 440 kit will make it less reliable or not? Thank you all you Yami fans for gving me honest information , I appreciate it

The 440 kit will make it slightly less reliable, because they take alot of material from the motor, thus making it harder to cool. BUT, the banshee can overheat too, so it's your call. I'd buy the 440EX, just from a straight on perspective. Every Banshee I've ever heard has a broken kick starter spring somewhere, and rattles annoyingly. If you are a woods rider, which it sounds like you are, then the 440 is the way to go. (But if it is much more than $4000 bucks, I'd pass anyway, and look for a 400EX stock or with a 416 or 425 kit, more reliable, and you can put the cash in YOUR mods, not some one elses.)
Whatever you buy, ride safe, and keep with the Raptor plan, I love mine.
