Typically, if you go wider only in the rear, steering response and the ability to power slide is reduced. If you widen the rear, i suggest doing the same in the front. I actually prefer to widen the front first, but that's just my 2 cents.

 

Thanks. I missunderstood the first time regarding the rims v tires.

I went ahead and ordered the new sprocket, but believe it or not I went a tooth less. Yea I know... But I might not put it on until I'm used to the ride after a month or so. The bike was really geared tall and I was worried that I'd bog out on hills.

Thanks for all of your help. I'll let you know how everything goes and will probably be a new frequent member here on the forums. You have all been extremely helpful and I've got the bug so bad right now it seems like riding that quad is all I can think about.

I used to have a 660, and I kept the stock everything. The gearing was fine for me, the tire size is perfect in my opinion and it had plenty of power for me - and I love to go fast! Just be careful and remember - having too much power is kind of like having an 18" ***** - all because you have it doesnt mean you have to use all of it. And if you put that smaller front sprocket on, your front end is gonna want to stand up even more than it does now, so good luck and hold on!

 

keep the Raptor,you will get better and get used to it,plus trading it in,you will end up losing a boatload of money..

 

As I was reading this thread I was hoping you didnt go with the larger sprocket. If you go down 1 in the front and up 2 in the back, chances are you dont have to change your chain size and this will allow you to be able to lug the machine down low in 3rd saving you from alot of un needed shifting.

As for tires I would go with the holeshot gncc. They are the lightest 6 ply on the market.
