for one thing it is way cheaper to make any 2 stroke fast. In comparison, I have a 250r that I probably have about 7k invested. A friend of mine has a yzf 450 with about 16k invested and he gets me by about 1.5 lengths in a 500 ft drag.

If you do everything that I have done to my 250 done to a shee you are probably looking at 70-75 hp. Now unless you are running alky or nitros you are not going to get those kind of numbers from a 450.

You say a shee has insane torque, a banshee has no torque, all horsepower my freind that along with bad handling makes this a poor track machine but a great dragger and dune machine

Me with my 250, I will bow to the done up banshee, but to all you 450's out there COME GET YOU SOME!!!

If a 450 gets past my 250 anywhere I will say nice machine and what do you have in it.

NO animosity to all you 450 owners, they are great machines and if I could afford to buy one and have enough money to make it faster than my 250 I would buy one. They are so easy to control all around. Very nice machines, but for now I will be living in the glory days when the 250 was king!!!

I have a friend with a 96 shee. He has a cylinder that was bored and ported by paul turner, pro design cool head, 36mm carbs, boost bottle, paul turner top end pipes, and if you can hold on and not flip it you can leave in 3rd and just be gone, see ya, bye-bye... In a 500ft drag he will beat a raptor by about 10-12 lengths. My 250 by about 3-4.

The thing that really helps my 250 is the fact that it only weighs about 305 lbs. full of gas. The shee about 385, rappy about 415. FULL OF GAS!!! Just wanted to repeat myself before someone comes out and says , oh the shee only weighs 370 and the rappy weighs 396.

I took everything that wasnt needed off my quad and threw it away, replaced some stuff with aluminum, all except the axle, and now after its diet it is so easy to throw around in the air its scary, makes you think, I can hit that double, but now that I am older and wiser I will just go fast and leave the big stuff for those fearless kids.

Wow, you got a couple of crazy quads there. I agree with you on letting the young guys to the crazy stuff, I gotta work in the morning! Guy I ride with occasionally has a 17 year old who's summer job mowing. Couple weeks ago that rolled his wheeler backwards down a hill. Didn't hurt the kid to bad but, did brake is foot. His dad told him it was time for a lesson and said "when I get hurt no one is there to take my place. I still have to show up. Same applies to you now." Of course he did'nt make him mow on a broke foot but he got the point.

<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Originally posted by: Koopa

Every time it comes up banshee vs anything nobody believes a banshee can lose. Banshee's have insane torque. They feel faster than anything but time and time again I watch banshee's fall to 450's. Out here where i ride we have 2. An '03 and a '06 I think it is. Last model made 05, 06 which ever. I watch them get beat every time they go up against any 450R or yfz450. Watched 06 get slaughtered by a 700R which is expected.

Don't get me wrong. Banshee's are fast. Heck they smoke me but the 450's have more top end power. Typically a banshee will get a 450 on bottom but they always come back in mid and top end for the win.

This is talking about drag race's. On a track I don't have experience but from what I've heard banshees don't have good enough suspension to hang.</end quote></div>

now you really confuse me, YOU ARE SAYING A TWO STROKE OF SMALLER DISPLACEMENT HAS ---MORE--- LOW END TORQUE THAN A 450 4 STROKE???? AND THAT THE 450 HAS BETTER TOP END? how can that be true, on the yamaha site, you can see for the MX dirtbikes that the 2 strokes make peak torque at 1000-1500 rpm higher than the 4 strokes.... i think you got it backwards, or you just tuned them really strangely

No. I guess I'm saying that the Banshee "Feels" more torquey I guess. Heck, if you've rode one you know what I'm saying. When the power band kicks in it has some pull. But the 450 will get it on top end. That is stock vs stock. (I stand corrected mod for mod.)

Am I wrong here? I've seen it happen numerous times. Maybe the 450's had better riders. Maybe they weren't stock. You guys have me wondering now.

"Everything" .. No .. On Pavement there are very few that will beat a Shee on Bottom End .. They launch good and the Front end won't come up as easy as the 450s do .. Depends on the Rider, but I do know from every experience I have had, the 450s will not beat a Shee or Raptor on Top End .. There fast thru the gears but Top End the others have them ..

Dude, we are talkling about bottom end RPM (under 4500rpm), not launches at the start of a drag..... everything will beat a shee if they all have a cdi that cuts off at 5000rpm, because 2 strokes dont make good power at low rpms
