If you do a sparkplug chop (cut-away) then the base of the porcelan should be a medium brown.

Yes, and yes. Yes in that it needs more air, yes it is rich and needs a smaller jet.
Go to the Arctic Cat forum and look for 'Air-jetting' it could help you without going to a smaller main jet.

Can your spark plug tell you..
There is no such thing as too little or too much air. You control air flow with your right thumb.
Now; there is such a thing as too much fuel or not enough fuel for the amount of air running through the engine. This you will have to fix with a carb jetting change.
