I rode mine in water well over the floor boards without a problem, I think maybe going through mud that's not so deep is a good idea

Go to a surgical supply store and purchase enough plastic tubing to run the vent line from the carb up to the top of your helmet, via your leg, waist, back, and head. Attach to body with duct tape, looping tape around body as needed; leaving slack for movement.

Then find your favorite mudhole, creek, or river, and wallow away. When finished, remove duct tape with scissors; roll up vent hose cowboy rope style, secure to front rack with duct tape until next time. When stored in this manner, bike should function normally without incident.

Install a fuel filter on the line and run it up under the gas tank and on up under the digital display. If you get stuck after that then you need to buy a boat. LOL

I was up to the headlights this last week in water and never did have it act up and sputter, but my ventline is routed up where my intake is for the engine and I keep a pretty good bow wake as I go through deep crossings.

My Grizzly 450 (Same 421cc engine) does the same thing... I will be making that hose come up to the hand-grips on the handle bar for sure! I also know a perfect spot at my riding area to test my fix!

Specifically which Hose are you talking about? I am looking at my service manual and it has two hoses

1. Float Chamber Air vent hose??
2. Vacuum Chamber breather hose??

Thanks

the little fuel drain line on the bottom of the carb actually has a one way valve in it that I noticed today, I think that would work very good for the vent line if it will fit.
