Help!!! Warrior is driving me crazy.
Can anyone help me with my Warrior problem? It's a 1988. It started to spit and sputter about 3/4 throttle and when I would shut it off, it was hard to start again. It only starts with the pull start and once it warms up it will start with the electric start. I have compression and spark. I took the carb apart twice and cleaned it and put it a new main jet, a 155. I have a K& N filter and an HMF exhaust I also bought a new battery. I took it out this weekend. It ran good for about 4 or 5 miles and it started sputtering again and died. It wouldn't start with electric or pull start. Does anyone have any ideas to help?

Check the plug and see what color is is. You may be leaned out, or running over rich. I can't recall exactly what Jet I had for the main in my Warrior with an FMF Powercore and Unifilter .. I think it was a 150, but not sure. You should get your starting motor checked, sounds like there's a break in the windings or something and with the heat expansion the connection is made again. Other than that you might check your stator output to see if it's OK, and/or your cdi unit. Good luck!

Thanks for the help. Yes, I think the 155 is too high. I also have a 150 that I'am going to try. The guy at the bike shop said that the 155 should be alright, but I thought it might be too high. I'll also try testing the other things. I think the starter may have a problem.

Even if you had the wrong size jet, it should still run unless you were WAY off. And if it were your jetting, it would spit and sputter before you went 4-5 miles! It could be an electrical problem as mentioned above. I had my Warrior do some crazy things one time and I found a wire in the back that went to the CDI that had rubbed the frame until the insulation was gone and the wire grounded out.
