Raptor Airbox Smells like gas
#1
Ive recently installed a HMF slipon on along with the jet kit and i noticed that it bogs down a little when i get on it then once a higher rpm is reached it goes alright. Once it warms up for about 15 min it gets a little better but i notice a strong gasoline odor from inside the airbox. Any ideas? Would adjusting the fuel/air screws fix the bogging? When i choke it it doesnt do it.

Is your quad smoking a lot, if it is ,it maight be too rich. follow the instructions that came with your jet kit, and set the nidle and the clip acording to the instructions. look up the chart were it shows wich jet to use depending on the altitud were you ride.after that set the air mixture screw to warever the chart indicates for initial settings. Usualy the settings are dead on but you might need to play with it for litle wile. when you turn the air mixture screw in or out , do it like 1/8 of a turn at a time and test ride.

"when i choke it it doesn't do it"... doesn't do what, bog or smell like gas? If choking takes away the bog, then you're running too lean in the midrange. Opposite of what you'd think when you smell gas. Do you ever 'stack' the bike - transport it tipped up, or wheelie a lot? That will fill your airbox with fuel.
Might be a combination of float level too high and needles too lean. The evidence you have given so far contradicts itself. I think you may have two independent issues.
Good Luck!

There is a little smoke when i first start it for the first 2min of warm up, nothin to bad. Also, since i got the dual carbs it has two mixture screws, dont they have to be adjusted the same amount?
I meant it doesnt bog down quite as bad when i choke it, sorry for the confusion. I do like to wheelie somewhat, makes sense that doen that could be the cause of the smell. Thanks

Okay, lets ignore the gas smell for a bit. If you are bogging midrange and choking helps, you may need to move your needles up a notch (retainer down a notch) to richen the midrange a bit. BUT, you might just try turning the pilot (A/F ratio) screws out 1/4 to 1/2 turn each and see if that helps first. They work more at the low throttle range, up to 1/4 or so, but they can make minor changes in the midrange mixture too.
Good luck!
