Default question for all the motor fanatics

The first thing I would do is a compression test.
If that comes out ok, then I would check for spark.
If that is ok, then the only thing left is fuel. Check everything out from the tank to the intake. I do them in this order because the first two are fast and easy to do.
Believe it or not it's a good thing that the quad is not running. It's rough when any engine runs like crap.
Good luck and let us know what you find out.

When you are in the top end your reeds are not closing(or being cracked) between strokes causing your fuel to be heavy(not atomized) fouling your plugs. No matter if this is the problem or not you should check just to make sure. You dont want a cracked piece of reed to come off and get sucked into the cylinder!

Yea it just sounds to me that, that is the problem. If the machine ran fine before and you didnt change anything. Bad reeds will make almost impossible to start without pull starting it. It just has all the symptoms of a reed problem

Keep us posted. Im interested to see if thats the problem

If you are changing from VF3's to stock you will probably need a jetting adjustment. How old are the VF3's. They are normally pretty reliable. The older units I've heard have some issues with the screws that hold the petals in place coming loose, so if the reeds look good check that as well
