Default How do I hook up a switch up to the solenoid?

how do you jump a solenoid? I need to start my 4 wheeler but the button no longer works on the handle bars. How do I hook up a switch to the solenoid?

It matters on the ATV. Sometimes the starter switch will be the ground or sometimes it will be +12v. Either way, most solenoids will have two large connections and two smaller ones. One of the large leads connects to the battery and the other large connects to the starter. The two small connections/wires are used to switch it on. When the small leds are hooked up right (+12v to one, ground to the other) the solenoid will switch on the power to the starter. You will want to find out how your current switch works first. What model/year ATV is it?

Default How do I hook up a switch up to the solenoid?

It is a 2001 yamaha warrior. Can I fry anything if I hook it up wrong? Thanks for the help.
