raptor 660
#1
Hey guys... just want to get some info on a 660 raptor. I know that the 01s were junk from tranny problems...I have a mojave and getting kinda tired of it. The 450s are amazing that are out now and i would like something faster that i could put less money into to make faster and what not. Raptors are cheap now and about the only thing that i could afford closest to a 450. I would like any info on them on problems and reliability or if i should just keep the mojo and make her mx ready. the rappy would of course get + 2 arms and axel and motor work of course if i were to get one....i woulnt keep that stock either. thanks kenny

IMO if u want sometihng cheap and fast get a banshee... you can mod these things to KILL 450's for under $1500 (including purchase of the quad) if you find a good deal.

id like to stay away from the twin cylinder 2 stroke ordeal, ive heard horror stories. im pretty good at working on motors and 2 strokes are simple but 2 in one i dont like. So u dont think i should go fer a raptor?

nah dude there's no horror, the worst that could happen is you fry a lower crank bearing, i'll use my quad as an example, that exact this happened, i bought it for $800 with a blown motor, spent $100 on a crank, $160 on a top end kit, $60 for machining, $100 of misc, and $100 for T4's and it will walk any 450 out there...

If you did want a 660 you can find some good deals on them. There is a '05 660 right now for sale about 30 minutes from me that is going for $3,200 and is clean as a pin. With deals like that around, I would not try to MX the mojave.

dont get banshees, its double the cost for having 2 cylinders. get a 660, put a good pipe, filter, jets, stage 1 hotcam, +2 suspension and axle. i saw the ktm 525 the other day. i loved it but its flaws are going to pop up the first yr of production.
