i have a noise from behind stator cover. i removed cover and am not sure but all parts look new and tight sounds like it coming for stater gear.
but i am not sure if it is installed correctly. when it makes this noise it is hard to start. when u dont hear the noise it starts easy.does any one have any pics of the correct installion or ideas. i just but this for my son
and the person that had it has replaced everything on it all electrical
items are new. the noise is a very loud clunking
thanks for any help

When you press the starter, it goes kaclunk, kaclunk kaclunk kaclunk, etc... Correct??? Sometimes it just "catches" and fires right up though. Correct??
It's the starter clutch, you're gonna be spending about $200 big ones to fix it. There is a large gear that bolts onto the back of the flywheel, coupled to a one-way clutch mechanism. You need the gear, the bearing, and the clutch mechanism. Eventually the gear will chip teeth off and potentially wreck your motor if left go.
Here are the P/N's that you'll need:
9 STARTER CLUTCH , ONE 1UY-15590-01-00 $88.21
6 GEAR, IDLER 2 1UY-15517-01-00 $77.78
8 BEARING,CYL.#10 93310-225N0-00 $17.76
Plus you have to remove the flywheel, which WILL require a puller. I just removed all the parts and put the quad in the back of my truck, the local shop charged me $20 to pull the flywheel, while it was in the bed of my truck.
Here is a detail of the parts:
