i mostly go to a large sand dune area that has a mountain of sand that gains about 7 or 8 hundred feet in about the same length. i have not raced on hard pack but in the sand arena, even with paddles i lose everytime. im about 180-185 5'11"
any suggestion would greatly be appreciated.

Buggy,

Shift faster!...Actually, I haven't pulled many long, steep hills against Banshees, but I smoke 'em in both loose, deep sand and on hard pack. I beat my friend today on a dirt path. He has a T5 kit, and pulled me last time in the same area. Difference being, I had Sand Skate IIs, and he had Holeshots. This time I opted for the stock tires and I was stilling pulling away from him in 5th. I'm about the same size as you, so I don't know what to tell you...don't lug it...use that available R limit to keep in the torque band after shifts. Those guys hate to drag me...they've been riding a long time and it really hurts their pride to lose. We're street racers as well, so we're always competitive. I will say that the Banshees do outclimb me on very steep, loose sand hills with short starting runs...we ride on the walls of the Intracoastal Waterway a lot. If you're using paddles, I assume that wheelstand is a factor at launch. Get over the top and stay forward through second, a little tirespin will help launch...be prepared to shift 2nd FAST! Hope it helps, keeping trying!
