Default Warrior - NO SPARK

This is my first post but I hope someone can help. I have an older (87-88) Yamaha Warrior 350cc Atv. I have recently been experiencing an electrical problem but I really don't remember how to test the different components. I worked around the stuff back in high school for a local motorsports dealer but it's been to long and I can't remmember how to isolate my problem.

The problem is I have no spark or I get itermitent spark. I've had the quad running but it has been hard to start and occasionally would die for no apparent reason. The thing has ran flawless for the last three years and out of the blue it all the sudden wouldn't start, after cranking on it for some time It would fire up and run fine for a while and then would die while riding, I could get it restarted but it was stubborn. So last weekend while I was picking up other parts I decided to grab a new plug for it. Got home, went to fire it up, and low and behold it wouldn't start at all. I then pushed it into the shop, change the plug but again nothing. I pulled the plug cranked it over and found I have no spark. I've tracked down the coil, and have found no bad wires coming to or from it. I pulled the stator cover and visually inspected the stater and didn't notice any borken wires or anything that would seem out of the norm.

I'm suspecting it to be the coil, the stator, or the CDI box but I don't remeber how to test each part to narrow it down. Could some one please walk me through the trouble shooting process. I have both a test light and an ohm meter but I can't remember which wires to test and what to test for??? ohms/volts/ect...???

Thanks

yes, the battery is fully charged. It would crank the machine over for an hour if you wanted to!

In the middle of the thread I posted the spec's. To other things I didn't test were the igntion coil and on/off igntion switch.
Primary coil resistance. .36 to .48 ohms
Secondary coil resistance. 5.44 to 7.36k ohms
The switch should have continuity between the black and black/white wires. (2 and 3)

Hope this helps

The stator is not part of the ignition system.. The 2 pickup coils on it are. But you can still test it and in the middle of the thread I give you the specs.
