I want to go on the ice but I don't think I'll do it more than once or twice. Will spiking my tires reck them? If I do so should I do front and back?

For sure front and back both. If i were you I'd pick up a set of old used tires and stud them yourself. I've heard of people just screwing in 1/4" self threading screws into the treads. OR if you have inner tubes drill holes in the tires and use nuts and bolts and line the insides with cardboard and duck tape so you don't pinch the tubes, that's what we do with mountain bikes anyway.
