Default skid plates on grizzly 450

i bought a tusk city slicker plow for my quad, and put the nifty mount on that doubles as an engine skid. however, i had to take some of the stock plastic skid plate off, and i noticed it is basically a full chasis skid plate. should i cut it to where it meets the plow mount, or should i simply try to find someplace that sells the skid plates in parts and not full chassis? thanks for any input -Tyler
