Hey, I posted a topic in the honda forum about selling my 400ex and buying a raptor and it pretty much got turned into a plowing with a raptor post but thats not all I was going to use it for. I ride woods alot and I feel like I am ready for the extra power. I was contemplating adding a 440 kit to the 400 or else just buying a raptor. If I set my 400ex up just how I wanted I would be putting another 2 grand in it and with that money I figure I should atleast have reverse. I guess what I am really asking is if you were in my shoes would you jsut stick it out with the 400 or go and buy a raptor? And if you have a raptor have you had any problems with it. Don't quad bash please all I wan't is info. Thanks in advance.

I'm not brand loyal by any means when it comes to ATV'S. I bought my Raptor for two reasons. Reverse and there's no replacement for displacement. If you're a big Honda man (I've owned two 300EX's - both bulletproof) wait around six month's. I've heard rumors about a 650EX.

I agree with the no replacement for displacement quote above. I got my Raptor in October and have had no problems whatsoever. I was going to get a 400EX until I saw the Raptor and decided that more power, almost as good handling, and reverse better suited me.

I'd say so, ($6100) since most I've seen are going at full retail. I love mine, even with the small dinks you have to work out. I looked at the 400s, and also decided to wait for a Raptor with reverse. I got the first one in this area in September, and if they come within a 200 mile radius, you still can't get your hands on one...there's still a list. Anyway, most guys I know buy the 400ex because they don't have to wait for a Raptor. If I were in their shoes, I probably would too. For closed circuit or tight riding, stay with the 400 or get a Banshee (which is more forgiving, due to low Center of Gravity, jump better, climb better, etc.), but for stock power, not much necessity for mods, great trails cruiser with same footprint as Banshees and 400s, and tons of instant torque, Go with the Raptor!. Either way, RIDE OUT!

Yes, I saw one listed in a "trader magazine" from a dealer, brand new for $6100.00 + tax. I'm set that I want the Raptor, now I just hafta convince my parents. I went from an xr100 (dirtbike) to my kdx200 (dirtbike) to a 400ex, and now thinking about the raptor. My parents are sensing that the engions are getting bigger! I have the money and will be paying the difference between selling the 400 to buy that raptor, Imhoping it will only be about 800 bucks though. Hey, Do you think I would get more out of the 400ex if I held on to it until spring? I think I might, does anyone else think so?

I'd get the Raptor, as a matter of fact, I did get the Raptor. Sold my 400ex for $4400 bucks, and sucked it up.

By the way, If Suzuki, or Honda, or anyother manufacturer had made a sport quad with a big bore engine, manual clutch, and reverse, I'd have bought it. The Raptor was there, and man am I thankful for that!

If I would sell my 400ex how much moneydo you think I could get. I would like to get about 5300-5500 but that isnt looking realistic anymore since some dealeships have lkowered their price of a 400ex new down to 5200

I was one of the first ones in this part of the country to get a Raptor(had to get on a 4 month waiting list) and i think it will become my favorite quad i have ever owned, and i've owned them all. About the Honda 650, i have heard that Honda is still making way to much money off the 400ex to introduce a new sport model, besides,i wouldnt get rid of it anyhow unless Honda came out with a new 500cc 2-stroke or Susuki decided to make a new Quadzilla.
