Ok, follow me guys... was told by the Yamaha guy locally that the 350 in the new Wolverine is basically the same one from the Warrior... so I am thinking cool, huge possibilities... here are some tech questions I have...
1. If I were to bore the cylinder enough to accept a 450 piston, how many ccs would that put me at? (If possible)
2. What kind of power could I expect to see if I had it bored .40, re-jetted it, put a K&N powerup kit on it, and put a new "header" on it? I like the factory muffler, as I have already polished the casing, tip, and pulled the arrestor (sounds bada$$)... so would I be better off than the above going this route?

What kind of 450 piston are you talking about? You can't put a YFZ 450 or Kodiak 450 piston in it. You could get a 446 bore and stroker crank from FST that will put you at just that - 446 cc. If you did the listed mods, you could expect a slight increase in power, and it may rev a little quicker. You could gain more power by getting rid of the factory muffler. If you think it sounds good now, put a HMF on it! They sound great on a Wolverine. There are a lot of hop-up parts out there for the Wolverine. A Webcam or Powroll cam will help you alot, too.

I seriously doubt the piston from the 450 Wolverine would fit either. The 350 and the 450 Wolverine engines are completely different. The cheapest thing you could do to add more displacement is to get a high compression 10.5:1 366 cc piston kit from JE. For less than $300 you can get everything you need. This will add more torque and will allow your engine to rev quicker. I would highly recommend this piston for anybody wanting more power. Add a $150 cam, $100 valve springs, $50 filter, jets, $250 muffler and you'll have a fairly strong, dependable motor. Another cheap mod is larger valves. For less than $150 you should be able to get the valves and have the head machined and the valves installed into the head. Also, porting the head helps alot. I'm not sure exactly how it affects your power, but what they do is smooth the intake and exhaust ports so the air/fuel and exhaust has less restriction as it enters and leaves the engine. Porting is fairly expensive for what you get - between $200-350 depending on who does it. I wouldn't let some jack-leg do it. I probably wouldn't do the porting on a Wolverine unless you just wanted the baddest Wolverine in your town. If you do the first mods and you're still not happy with the power, you need a bigger bike.

The only place that will work on my bike is Crossroads Yamaha in Albemarle. All of their mechanics have graduated from MMI, plus, they are nice guys.
To answer your stealthy question, I do want the baddest Wolverine...lol. I just like the setup. Rides and handles GREAT for it's size. Already has decent power for throwing the rear end around too. I just want it to have a little more bite to go with that growl...
Actually, I want to knock off the Brutes and other Big Dogs in the Utility class down here. I don't think I will make it take them on the top end, but I believe from what I am reading that I can get this machine to the point where I am able to take them at 200 and 300 feet. I already have a substantial weight advantage on them.
Here is what I am thinking to start off with... jet, port, polish, pipe, intake kit, clutch kit (maybe, don't wanna loose top end after getting it up there)... this will be a dual purpose quad for me... scoot around the yard following the boys on their quads, and be doing about 60-65 mph at the end of the track... unrealistic?

o and btw, if the 'New' 350 motor is the same as the warrior in the new wolverines, it isn't all that new b/c a couple years ago, b4 they had the 450 wolverine, they had the 350's, and the 350 WAS the motor that was in the warrior, looks like they decided to go back to the old engine design.

Pesonally I would go buy a different quad if you want to be up with the other guys.. After modding mine I much rather would have put that money into a 700r raptor or something.. Anyway that aside. I would go with CWR or Four Stroke Tech if you want the biggest badest machine around.. Expect to pay more then $2000 grand for parts and labor if your not going to do the work yourself. These kits will have any where from 460cc to 446cc and have around 45 hp.

I am not wanting to break the sound barrier lol. Like I said, I am not in a position right this second to afford two or three different quads. I bought THREE last week, so I am gonna be sticking with this one for a while.
This thing has to be civil enough to hold up to the rigors of putting around the yard while my wife does her flowers and what not, cruising at about 10 mph with my little ones while they ride theirs, and knocking off the local guys that think they have the biggest baddest things around. Most of these guys are going through a second childhood and gone out and bought the biggest quads they could buy.
As far as the work goes, my guys will be cutting me some HUGE deals on machine work as they sponsor my cousin's quad for the drags...
Like I said, I am gonna settle with the head work, a power up kit, jets, big ol' nasty pipe, and the clutch kit... I won't out run them top end, but I will give them a fit at 200 and 300 feet. Or at least it looks that way...
So, no rev limiter box yet for these?
