Default head swap wolverine

I've read that alot of big bear and warrior parts are interchangable with the wolverine, what benefits (if any) can be made from using the head from a big bear or warrior? are the specs on the head the same or is it just the bottom end?

I know they are all the same bore, but do they flow any differently?

Thank you

disregard, the yamaha part number for the warrior and wolverine are the same.

Heads are the same. The carbs and Intake boots aren't the same on all years. On the later model Big Bears and Wolverines, they use a CV carb that is smoother and designed for lower end power. The early Big Bear 350s and all Warriors used a flat slide/butterfly carb. Jetting is almost always leaner on the Big bear and Wolverine carbs. They also use shorter intake boots on the Warriors. Warrior carbs bolt onto the intake boot. The CV carbs slide into the intake boot and clamp in like normal carbs. You can run a aftermarket Warrior cam and upgrade your carb but the carb might not fit right with the airbox unless you buy a kit made for the Wolverine. Other than changing your tire sizes, you are locked into the stock gear ratios so you would only be making it acceleration faster and pull harder.

It is interesting that you mention the carb. I was looking into getting a warrior carb, according to the manufacturer it is 2mm bigger than the wolverine (at 36MM vice 34) so that it has better bottom end and midrange. Their is an abundance of them on ebay and the mounting flange is available also. Bottom end is exactly what I am looking for. I was wondering about the torque stuffer tubes, but it seems like it would defeat the purpose of adding pipe.

your thoughts?

I would stay away from the torque stuffer tube myself. But I would look into a carb, and a cam for more torque, but you also might look into an epi clutch kit to help with low end torque(only like 50.00).

Thanks for the info on the stuffer. I've been reading allover and it's a50-50 split on the reading. I have taken the bait on the EPI/Highlifter clutch kit and will be making the purchase in the next week or so.

Links for manufacturer claims from previous post:

see the warrior section

"The Warrior also features a 36mm Mikuni carburetor with a butterfly valve for low RPM torque and strong mid-range pulling power"

see the wolverine section

"Supplying the engine with its fuel mixture is a 34mm Mikuni CV carburetor"

Before I make the purchase I would like to hear from someone with knowledge of the carbs/components. Different airbox or just a different duct?

(I have a modquad intake/airflow kit so I most likely need to keep the current airbox.) still pipe shopping, do not want to spend more than 250 for a packless pipe.

I have the epi clutch kit on my wolvy(for the automatic, but it did increase low end torque by quite a bit) and I love it. If you were going to go into the engine deep I would suggest a big bore kit from Fourstroketech.net and use his cam. You could do it without even replacing the carb.

Isn't that kit for a CVT clutch? You have a manual gear box in a 97.

They have a kit that consists of different springs and a gasket. no clutch discs just springs.

In the CVT, I believe the kit consist of moving adding weights and pivot points along three different arms and adding different strength springs (similar to snowmobile clutch kits).

well there is a kit for the auto but they make a kit for the semiauto.

The cvt, has rollers, a large spring and 5 small springs.

The semiauto kit has a set of 5 springs.
