Default Which ATV should my brother bye?

My brother is going to be bying his first atv tommorow. Me personally have a 450 wolverine and a 350 wolverine. He got approved for a 5500 dollar limit threw yamaha and he is going to do this because he wants his own atv and he wants to start building his credit. When we go riding he hops on my 350 wolvy. He said he likes the ride and the descent amout of power that it has but was wanting something that maybe had alittle more get up and go from a stop and he could pull a few wheelies with and jump alittle. He also was wanting something that could handle alittle better. Both the raptor 700r and the yfz450 are alittle above his price range.

We mostly ride some twisted woods trails up and down strip pits but we also have a few fields we mess around in.

What are the pro's and cons of each atv. And i was also wondering if someone could describe to us the differance between the power you would feel on that auot 350 wolvy and the power of the 350 raptor...also what would the speed differance be.

Any help and suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Kevin

P.S.

Happy thanksgiving everyone.

he can get a 07 450 Wolverine for the credit they gave him..look around at all the yamaha dealers in the area,Mine wanted to sell me a black 07 Wolverine for 5k out the door..ask around..I have a 03 350 Wolverine, but that is a whole differnt beast than the new ones,a 350 Raptor, seems like a kids quad to me..If he likes your 450 look around really..They really want to get rid of those left over 07's now..

First off Happy thanksgiving to you as well hope you and Fam have a great one!!! And now onto the question I have a Raptor 350 and in stock form it's fun and has good power but once it get's fully broke in and with the silencer out it has a Great deal of power for a 350 I have 12/40 gearing and it will pull me up any hill in 2nd and 3rd in most casses and can wheelie easily in second gear and in third with a tug on the bar's so with that being said if he wants speed get the 350 Rap because it easily will out run the 350 wolvy due to the auto tranny and extra weight and im sure it will out run the 450 off the line and all the way to the top im not sure how fast on top the 450 is but with my gearing as it is I can reach 58-63 mph.The diff is the 350 is just all out gonna be alot faster than the 350 auto the power is gonna be wayyy harder hitting!!.But I just got a grizzly 400 auto and it's not too fast but with IRS and it being 4wd it sure is fun and i got it 5,036 out the door it's a hard thing to decide on which atv will be best 4 someone so many up's and down's to sport atv's and Utilty atv's one being my raptor loves to bottom out you alway's have to pick a line to ride in ruff stuff because if you dont you will be getting stuck a whole lot..Anyway's ive went on and on enuff hope maybe some of this blabber will help..JEREMY

Thanks alot that's some good info...there are the prices they quoated up thursday

Woverine 350 $3900
Wolverine 450 $6000(it's hunting season and any 4x4 here in alabama is almost doubles i bought mine for 5000 thought)
Raptor 350 $4000 out the door
Raptor 700 $6700 out the door.

My 450 wolvy tops out at around 54-55. For me that's plenty fast on 4 wheels especially the trails we ride.
There all 07s also

I have to say I think the wolvy is about all the quad I will ever need. I think that if he needs faster then possibly the raptor 350, its a shame yamaha doesnt offer a trailriding sport 450 instead of just a race 450.

I think the wolvy is plenty sporty for me and where I ride. Plus if you buy something that is close to what you want then you can always modify it to make it better.

I would call a couple of other dealers and see if you can get a better price of the wolvy, I paid 5250 for mine and I could have gotten it for 5000 if I wanted to waste a day of my life driving to go pick one up. But if your brother decides that he wants the wolvy and they wont drop the price, have the dealership call yamaha credit and see if they will bump his limit to meet the price of the quad(they did mine when I bought it.) I was about 75.00 short of what I needed by the time I got the quad, rear rack, radiator guard, and a-arm skids, plus oil and a filter.

let him buy what he wants...if it breaks and you chose you'll never hear the end of it!
