Default Trouble starting Raptor 80

Been having a lot of trouble getting my sons Raptor started. I took carb apart cleaned bowl moves freely and cleaned carb. Gas is good new with expensive water vapor remover. I need to heat the motor up with a propane heater and punch it every few minutes while cranking new plug/ choke it. I know its a little cold in VT but it started to give me a hard time this summer. ANYBODY out there can you help. I hate to bring to stealer

hmm, sounds like maybe too cold of a plug, or possibly the wrong mixture of fuel

I would sujest adjusting the valves. Thats a very common problem. Usually you should adjust them about once a year and it should start again.

I dont what plug you have in it but there is different heat ranges available, with a hotter spark plug it will start easier. all you should need to run for gas is reegular unleaded.

As far as valves it can cause problems starting, but usually takes quite a while before that happens

I would bet money it is not the plug. (unless its in really bad shape) We had a Badger for years, and almost evertime it got to be hard to start, I could adjust the valves and fix the problem. Its a free fix, just takes a couple of minutes.

you know whats weird, I have the predecessor to the badger and I never had to adjust the valves on it to get it to start just fine. I finally had to adjust them when I did the overhaul and replaced the intake valve due to the common problem of the intake valve sticking into the head.

The Champ or moto 4 was a very good little quad. The thing with the valves is with time, either the valves or the seats, wear just a little. This allows the valve to be open just enough to lose some compression thus making it hard to start. They will usually run ok when warm. If the valves are loose to start with, it my take a very long time to get to this point. BUT, with the newer raptor 80's and maybe the cheaper gas, this has become more of a problem. Like I mentioned, its a easy thing to do and it doesn't cost any money. I've worked on a half dozen or so that this fixed. Its just a thought.
