If you get a Blaster try to find an '03 and up to get the hydraulic brakes. You can find them for $1,000 -1,700 all day long and if you leave it stock, keep oil in it and tell your son not to hold it wide open for long periods of time then it will last a while. Blasters are great little quads for the money. They are cheap, easy to work on and find parts for and cheap to buy parts for. My buddy just bought a clean, all stock '03 model for a steal at $1,000. He's 27 years old and 6'1" tall and 200 lbs. and he loves his Blaster, but he's not quite as hardcore as the rest of us. If you got one and your son outgrew it in 2 years, who cares? If you take care of it you could sell it and just about get your money back out of it and buy something bigger.

Better? carb, 20" rear tires instead of 22", piggyback rear shock instead or remote, wheelie bar, bumper, seat, better? front shocks, choke lever at bars. The seat height is higher and feels much better than the Warrior. The Warrior always felt and looked squatty in the rear and felt like you were sitting in a hole.
Yeah if you're thinking about it just get the freakin' 350 and be done with it. The 350 is much better than the 300EX, Blaster or Raptor 250.

as far as i know the raptor 350 is pretty much the same a a warrior i just got done rebuilding my old 99 for my wife and a lot of the parts i bought were off newer raptors but dont let this change your mind the warrior was one of yamaha's most relible 4 wheeler and if you are getting ti for your sone isnt that what you want some thing that will last for a while granted its not the fastest thing in the world but with a simple ppe and jet it has really good usable power and a strong torque curve i currintly ride a highly moded 400ex with big bore kit but i still enjoy my warrior and i am 26yrs old really all it comes down to is what you like and what you can afford have fun ridding with your son hope i help a little

All so true jimmie the warrior motor is a tuff motor I dont think it can be killed as long as there's oil in it even then i think it may be a task to blow it apart ive sunk mine in a creek 4 time's since ive had it one time it flipped upside down in the creek each time I flipped it up on end took the spark plug out and air filter out turned it over a few time's to pump it clean of watter and rode threw the day and have to yet have a problem....
