I am trying to change the balll joints on my 03 Big Bear. I have removed the clip that holds the ball joint in. I removed the control arm and tried pounding the ball joint out, it wont budge. Does anyone know how I can get the old ball joint to come out?

 

Try using an automotive type balljoint puller or an air hammer with a balljoint splitter attachment.

 

How does a ball joint puller work? Are they expensive?

 

I would think around $30. It will be obvious once you see it how to use it.
